Now when I go to Wroc\u0142aw \u2013 and I\u2019m constantly drawn there
\n\u2013 I can see both the past and the present in it. This is an enriching
\nexperience. I have a lot of understanding for the vagaries of the
\ncity and its residents. Many present-day Vratislavians are also from
\nfamilies who were expelled. Like my mother, they had to summon
\nup the courage to start a new life in an alien city. They refused to
\nlook back, and focused on the future.
\nThe spirit of those Wroc\u0142aw pioneers is palpable today once
\nagain, or perhaps I should say: anew. In my eyes it is this that shapes
\nthe remarkable mentality of the city and its residents. Wroc\u0142aw has
\nalways been a place of new ideas and new beginnings. And also
\na place of reconciliation.<\/p>\n
